I'm truly sorry if this is a bit hard to understand, but I am on a rush.
After upgrading from IE 5.5, IE 6 has had so many problems.
1. The History!!! I click the History button and all it says instead of "Today" with the little calendar icon is "History.IE5" with a little "History" folder icon. Inside there is Index.dat. I have visited many websites, but this does not change!
I know for sure this is not a desktop.ini problem, because I made sure it is in all of my History folders, and that it contained the right data. Is there a folder.htt I am missing?? In Windows Explorer History, except for its icon with the sunclock on it, looks like any other folder (meaning it doesn't say "This is where your computer keeps blah blah blah", but again, desktop.ini is in there and not corrupted.
This is my desktop computer, and I have a working laptop with IE6. On the laptop, I decided to move the History folder from WINDOWS folder to the TEMP folder, and see if "desktop.ini" alone will make the TEMP one a History folder too. It didn't, it just appeared with the "History.IE5" like mine does right now, so obviously this must not concern "desktop.ini"
Sorry from the rambling, but can this be a registry problem or something? How can I make C:\WINDOWS\History a completely functioning History folder??
2. This problem is much smaller, but the new icons for IE6 really suck. Is there a file on the internet where I can download the old IE5.5 and OE5 icons? Or just there EXE file so that I can have change all of my shortcut icons to those? Again, this is just cosmetics so I guess I don't mind that much..
3. A slightly more serious one. I hate the Media button, but everytime I start IE6 I see it really quick, before the computer loads my settings which tells it to remove the Media button.
Basically, the computer is slow to load my settings, and for a second or two it always loads the "default" setting with the Media button. This is really annoying. Is this a CPU problem, because my 400Mhz is too slow?? On a similar note, Windows Explorer always shows my drives as folders before loading the actual drive icons. Very frustrating, but I doubt you can find a solution to this, so I would like to know if this is just a CPU problem or what causes this.
Sorry for the rambling, but hopefully you can help! Thanks alot!!!

I have different problems with IE6 History. But when I searched the Microsoft Knowledge Database, I saw an article about a problem similar to yours : see
"http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;296336"
I am not sure it will help you (the only "suggestion" is to re-install IE)
Regards.
