Html or HyperText Markup Language, is a tag based way of formatting text for the web. In it's purist form it's a fairly simple thing to learn.

Here's a good place to start learning
Webmonkey.com

For the best html editor out there check out this page
Dreamweaver MX

Hope this helps,
Sandman

For a good editor, download mozilla from mozilla.org.
It has a browser, email client, and a really nice html editor called composer. It's flaw is that it inserts too many tags, but they're easy enough to remove.

You can check your code for W3C compliance at W3C .org.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use Frontpage. This worthless piece of crap is good for generating pages that will work right in Internet Explorer and no other browsers. Needless to say, its code isn't W3C compliant.

If you have Linux, try Quanta or Bluefish. Quanta is my favorite.

Do try to learn how to write the HTML yourself though. You can use notepad for this. If you understand it, you'll be able to run circles around (and make more money than) those who only know how to run particular HTML editors.

I can recommend the HTML 4.01 Bible. It's about $50 at the store or $35 on Amazon.

Have fun!

My message didn't show up right. I was trying to say that mozilla inserts too many break tags. The symbol for that didn't show up in my post.

This forum does not display html tags correctly. It will attempt to convert them into code. The easy work around is to replace the greater than less than arrows with [ brackets ].

Html is as easy as anything else computer related. Provided that your willing to read the many.. many.. many tutorials available on the web.

Dreamweaver is an excellent editor but i dont think you should begin with it. You have all the tools you need built right into every version of windows that i can remember. notepad.exe!

Code the page and save it as an .html doc. Double click it to preview your page in IE.

w3schools.com Contains a lot of information about web page building.
