Does anyone have an HTML character for the long 'a'? Or any other vowel for that matter. In case I'm not clear, I want to type an a with a long line over it. Thanks.

Michael - Perfect! Many thanks. Why couldn't I find that? mattie - Thanks, but those are accents aigus, and while they help designate pronunciation, they aren't indicative of vowel length: i.e., long or short. I believe the mark I was looking for is called a macron.

mattie - That's something I never knew. Out of interest, I Googled 'fada' and came up with this interesting article on Wikipedia.
