HP PSC 2110 will not install XP 32 bit

May 15, 2012 at 19:10:29
Specs: Windows XP
I have a HP PSC 2110 all-in-one printer/scanner. HP downloads has one PSC 2110 driver for XP, and it doesn't specify 32 or 64 bit. Every link on every driver download site links to this one file. When I try to install it, I get an error message "system cannot read the file." Every indicator shown me in the download / install process tells me this should work. How can I get it to install?

The XP driver is 32-bit only, HP didn't bother to release a 64-bit driver for that printer until Windows Vista came along, but XP never got one. So rest assured you do have the correct driver for 32-bit Windows XP.

Your exact problem with the same printer model appears many times on several forums, posted by people having the same issue. Even on HP's own user forum no-one had posted a solution.

Currently I'm still searching for one.

"system cannot read the file"

That sounds like a corrupt download. Delete the driver, run a cleaner such as CCleaner-Slim to clear out all your temps files, internet history, etc, then redownload the file & try again.

Cleanned system (all cookies lost, saved passwords, history, etc), 45 mins spent downloading the driver file AGAIN only to have it refuse to install. Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Congratulations to HP for creating a product that can't be installed regardless of how many times the user repeats the driver download process. About what one would expect from the Geek Generation that can't spell America correctly. I'm putting the thing out by the road with the promise to NEVER bring another HP product into this house, ever again!
