Using HP ScanJet 5370C with XP Windows. When installing HP Precision Scan Pro software 2.52 (new version), get message sucessfully installed, then, a message "Fatal error setup is unable to continue." Tried installing HP Precison Scan Pro 2.5 (old version), then install patch sj665mu.exe, then, get a message "Fatal error set up is unable to continue." This is done without scanner being hooked up. Previously when installing from CD new version 2.52, the scanner worked but the preview screen did not show a complete image. Following HP instructions, I attempted to install ver. 2.52 in safe mode, from installation files copied to desktop, when I clicked Setup.exe file, I got a message " An error ocurred during the move data-process-113. Follwing HP instructions, I updated all XP critical updates and continued to have same problems. Now, getting worse with fatal error message. Any suggestions? HP 722C printer is connected to SCSI on Iomega Zip 100 Plus Drive and the Iomega Zip is connected to ECP LPT1 printer port on CPU. However, I very seldom use the Zip Drive. When I connect HP 5370C DeskJet Scanner, it is to USB. Charlie

When I problems installing s/w for my HP PhotoSmart scanner, I had to completely eliminate all HP s/w and files, even that for my printer, for the install to succeed. It took an hour on the phone with a very capable tech rep to do this because many files and registry keys were not obviously HP's. Then, I had to install the scanner s/w first, followed by that for the printer.
