HP Pavillion will not boot up

December 29, 2011 at 09:11:23
Specs: Windows xp, Pentium 2 Ghz
My HP pavillion will not boot up from My C: drive to external hard drives. I need to save files before re installing windows and other software. I realize this will take much time and effort, but I really need to get in and transfer my files from My Documents to the externals before wiping my main hard drive.

I think this question was presented a little wrong.. okay, so your computer cannot boot and because you want to fix that, you want to transfer all of your stuff to an external hard drive?

If it won't boot in normal mode, try in Safe Mode. When the computer boots up, press F8 and with the menu that comes up, select Safe Mode with Networking. That will allow external devices to be plugged in so you can transfer your stuff.

Did that work??
