HP Pavilion 7935 Won't Enter BIOS

Friend had a problem with her Windows XP HP Pavilion 7935 computer. Tried to return to a previous configuration using system restore. Had troubles doing that and then tried to reinstall Windows XP. Got half way through the reinstall and the system froze. I want to reinstall Windows XP but can't get into BIOS. Went to HP's site and they said to hit F1 at the opening HP Logo. Have done that without any success. Need to do that in order to change boot order so that I can insert Windows XP CD. Other option is to use a Windows 98 SE Emergency Boot Disk and then use the generic drivers included to boot the Windows XP CD. As I can't get into BIOS, I can't change the boot order.
If anyone has an idea how to get into BIOS, I would most appreciate your suggestions.

well... u could just serch for the xp boot floppy set (u need 6 blank floppys to do it). Also i worked on a guy's hp and i had to hit whatever it was (forget the button, one of the F keys) like before anything even came on the screen. Best way to do it sometimes is to hold down the key on the keyboard, then press the on button

Try ESC then F1, it pops up a boot menu for me when i use it on my hp.
