Hello all!
The boss has bought a new dell inspiron 9300 with win xp service pack 2 also came installed with mcafee antivirus.)
W have in th office a HP officejet 7200 all in one printer that he uses. This device is on the network.
The software that came ith the printer has been loaded but when it comes to installing the printer the HP software 'loops' back to the start.
We specify it is a network printer and not connected directly to the computer.
It goes thru detecting the printer and detecting the IP address (but not the subnet and default gateway) and then advised it finds the printer, only to loop back to the start of the rocess. We have also eneterd in the subnet and gateway with the same issue
I can ping the IProm the computer so it can definetely see it.
Any thoughts?
I am thinking maybe plug it in direct then changing it to a ethernet connection as an idea..
FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS, HELP!!

Have you tried using the "Add Printer" wizard in Windows XP? It may just be the HP one is failing. Also, try typing \\123.123.123.123 (replacing with the real IP address) in Windows Explorer. You may be able to access the printer that way.

The original pc it is set up on, needs to have it listed for sharing...you don't mention that.
