Can someone help? I tried virtually almost every method..
all the computers are running Windows XP PRO!!!
using peer-to-peer network...
it was this one time where i unplugged the hp laserjet fromt he host computer for a while, and when i plugged it back in, I wasn't sure if i plugged it in the same USB port or not..well I deleted all the printer off all the client computers and the host and reinstalled the drivers from the cd to the host ......
how do i install the drivers from the cd to the client computers?? someone suggest me do that.. it'll only let meh add the printer when i browse for the printer in my network... I can see it there.... but still won't let meh print off the client computers... Only the host computer can print...
I tried unplugging the usb and plug it into the other hole and reinstalled the drivers on the host... no luck.. =(adminstrator/events/printing spool/etc.... is on I know, cause I checked for the person that suggested me that might be the problem...
I also installed the updated drivers from the hp website... 2.. I contacted them, and they gave meh these instructions which I tried and no luckThis document describes how to install the HP LaserJet 33x0 series printer on a computer connected to a Windows XP network. To install the printer, enable Windows-sharing, use a Point and Print installation method, and complete the installation using the Add Printer wizard.
Enabling Windows-sharing (host)
NOTE: Install the HP LaserJet 33x0 series software on the host computer, the computer directly connected to the printer, before completing the following steps.
At the host computer:
1. Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
2. Right-click the HP LaserJet 33x0 series printer icon, and then click Sharing.
3. Click the Share Name option button, and type the shared printer name in the adjacent text field.NOTE: If the printer name is longer than 12 characters, some network computers may not "see" the printer attached to the host computer.
4. If the printer will be shared with computers that are running other versions of Windows, continue with Step 5. If not, click OK to finish.
5. Click Additional Drivers.
6. Select the drivers chosen for installation. Place the installation CD-ROM for the selected operating system into the CD-ROM drive, and then click OK.
7. Click OK to finish.Point and Print installation (client)
Point and Print is a Microsoft (R) process for installing and configuring a printer driver on a client computer, a network computer that is not directly connected to the printer. It involves two steps. First, install a shared driver on a network host computer. Then, "point" to the print server from a network client computer.
NOTE: If further assistance is needed with Point and Print installation, please contact Microsoft for additional support.
1. At the client computer, install the driver using Point and Print in one of the following ways:
NOTE: The host computer must be turned on for the printer to be available to the client computer.
OPTION A:
a. In Network Neighborhood, locate the shared printer on the network.
b. Drag and drop the icon for the shared printer into the Printers folder.OPTION B:
a. In Network Neighborhood, double-click the icon for the shared printer.
b. Follow the on-screen instructions for connecting to a network printer.OPTION C:
a. In the Printers folder, open the Add Printer Wizard.
b. Follow the on-screen instructions for connecting to a network printer.2. Complete the installation through the Add Printer Wizard.
Add Printer installation (client)
Complete the following steps to install an HP LaserJet 33x0 series printer on a Windows XP network, using the Add Printer Wizard.
NOTE: The printer software CD-ROM that came with the printer will be needed for installation. Insert the CD-ROM into the computer's CD-ROM drive installing the printer on the network.
a. Exit all programs.
b. From the Windows system tray, click Start, then click Printers and Faxes.
c. Click Add a printer.
d. In the Add Printer Wizard, click Next.
e. Select Local printer, clear the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer check box, and click Next.
f. Select Create a new port, select Local Port from the Type drop-down list, and click Next.
g. In the dialog displayed, type the new port name (for example, \\COMPUTER_NAME\PRINTER_SHARE_NAME), and click OK.
h. Select Use the following port, select the new port from the list, and click Next.
i. Click Have Disk.
j. Click Browse.
k. In the Open dialog box, select the CD-ROM drive, select the appropriate language file, the Drivers folder, the appropriate Operating System and the pcl6, pcl5e or PS folder and click Open.
l. Click OK.
m. Select the HP LaserJet 33x0 series printer driver from the list, and click Next.
n. A default name for the printer will be suggested. If desired, type a different name in the Printer name box.NOTE: If the printer name is longer than 12 characters, some network computers may not "see" the printer attached to the host computer.
o. Click Next.
p. Click Next.
q. Select Yes, and click Next.
r. Click Finish. (A test page should print, verifying that the printer is set up properly.)
