Hi,

This is really strange - has anyone
experienced the same......???

I work for a wireless networking company
and we're frequently testing out Cisco
Client cards and Oranges latest 3G PCMCIA
cards.....

However two of our engineers have
HP(Compaq) notebooks and we just can't get
get any PCMCIA cards to work(be
recognised).

All other laptops here are fine and the
HP(Compaq) can use it's own in-built
wireless card fine just not any others!

One laptop in question is the NC8000 which
by all means is the mutt's nuts!

Is this a common feature with HP that their
own hardware dominates control of windows
networking or that the internal card is
conflicting????

I have tried every thing from disabling the
internal card, updating my drivers etc.

My next step is to take apart the laptop
and remove the internal wireless card as it
seems to be interfering with any additional
wireless hardware!

Also the internal card(Intel) keep dropping
connections frequently hence me wanting to
use a Cisco one instead!

I have also had a few reports coming in
that 3G customers are struggling to install
the cards on HP(Compaqs).

Does anyone have any work arounds for this
problem please?

HP(Compaq) themselves do not have many
ideas atm!

Help appreciated!

Guess you need to hire better staff.
I don't mind helping the regular Joe but if you are a company then I think that line one is correct.

Well our staff specialise in more complex things and we don't really have the time to spend playing around with M$ problems and drivers etc.
If you object to sharing your knowledge because I am employed then that is rather petty.

I think it is great that you have a job.
Better still that I have a job.

I think that it is petty of me to withhold information from a company that should have staff to fix this.

I might be able to fix it but since I invested well, retired from IBM and don't care to work that might be a problem.
