Specs: Windows XP, HP Pavillion 2Gig Ram

Just got a new HP Deskjet 1050 all in one printer from overseas, I plugged at the right places, except that the printer cable is not included so I used a generic one. I used USB port when asked which port to use, when I tried to print something from online it says there is an error in printing, I clicked on the HP icon for the printing option, it says it cannot be accessed. I already disabled anti virus and firewall, scan option is also the same. It seems like it can't be detected. I have installed the installer from the CD ROM, and it detects the hardware when I plugged in the cable to the usb of my CPU.. anybody having the same issueS? please help on how you got it working. Thanks

Probably a silly question but did you reboot with the printer plugged in and switched on so that it could find XP's inbuilt driver?

If not see if you can get a HP Deskjet 1050 driver for XP by going to HP's website.

We all live on a ball.
