720 C will not print from XP using XP drivers? How can I get my 720 C to work with XP pro? I have installed the 720C drivers included in XP on two different computers, and neither one will print to the 720C. When I put the 720C back on my old old win 98 machine it works OK. What is wrong with XP's driver? I am connecting to the printer with a parallel port LPT1.

Hey Guys, Problem solved! The printer cable was bad. I am not sure why it would work with the old computer running Win 98, but not with the newer machine running XP. Any way, it now works great like it should with the new printer cable.

Did you follow these instructions? Are you sure the printer port is enabled?

I have followed these instructions carefully a number of time. I have deleted and reinstalled the drivers several times. I just waded thru the instructions for uninstalling printer port LPT1, restarted the computer, and followed the prompts for installing new hardware, which reinstalled the 720C drivers, and set the 720C as the default printer. Still no response when I try to print. Think I will find another parallel printer cable and change that out. The cable that is currently installed works fine with the Win. 98 computer for printing the same documents that refuse to print under XP.

Come on Guys! Surely someone has figured out how to correct this problem. I see from checking other postings on here that this is a problem others have had with HP printers and XP. I do not see any solutions to the other posts.
I have printed out the instructions from HP's website and followed them exactly, as far as I can determine. Is there a missing line in the registry to the effect of "COM1=LPT1" or the fancy MS registry equivalent?
