Well... here we go again with some spyware annoyance... This time it's called the Lycos SideSearch but still got that "Get the hell out of my computer!" tag...
I used Adaware as some suggested on the web. It didn't find anything.. and yes, it was updated before you ask...
I've tried removing the nuisance manually. Got in the registry to find the keys. Nothing there... Got in my prog folder, nothing there either... In fact, there isn't any lycos.dll, sidesearch.dll, or whatever the name anywhere on my machine...
So how do I remove a spyware that isn't even found by AdAware?? I can manage doing it manually, ut all info I've found doesn't even aplly 'cos the files I'm supposed to delete aren't even there... ?!
Anyone has an idea?

Now this may seem weird, but do try this.
What I am suggesting is that YES, try to re-install the Lycos SideSearch thing. But this time, instead...have a download manager do it.
http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/download.html
This is the free trialversion. Use it to hook the download. That is, when you click to re-install, then download manager intercepts the download and asks you where to save the file(s) to....LOL! :) Get the picture????
Yeah!
Ok, setup downloadmanager in the options section to intercept ANY kind of download procedure. This will intercept an autoinstall.
Download everything to a temp file and do not install it :)
Now, take a look at the files and get the filenames.
If its a zip or cab file, then get a free trial of winzip and unpack it.
Now, you have all the filenames...go hunting!
Hope this solves the problem :)

um jim.. no
Technically lycos for some odd reason isnt considered spyware
First
Right click on your tool bar where the lycos search is at. Uncheck the lycos check. This will take it off internet explorer. Now you want to get rid of it. Luckily enough you can uninstall it afrom your Add/remove programs
My computer> Control panel> Add/remove programs
Find and uninstall lycos toolbar
Now if u really want to get rid of it ALL
go to Start> Run > type 'regedit' (with out quotes) >Make sure My computer is selected> Edit> Find> type Lycos. Now keep deleting and searching untill it says it cannot find any more
