Hello everyone!

I tried recently to install XP Pro (version supporting only the ATA disks) on the laptop having the SATA HD and I couldn't do this because there were SATA drivers missing.

In addition this laptop doesn't have the floppy drive so I should take the SATA drivers from a XP Install CD (SATA version) and add the drivers on the Installation CD under MagicISO or so.

But my question is: where on the Install CD of the XP SATA version are the relevant SATA drivers and what are their names?

Thank you in advance for any support!

Zennon

You need specific SATA drivers for your system.
Those should be available from the maker's website. Simply save them onto a CD.
When prompted to press F6 at the beginning of setup, do so and remove the XP instal disk, insert the driver disk and after the driver is loaded, re-insert the XP disk to complete the installation. You failed to identify the laptop make/model in your heading.

Hi Richard!

Of course, I forgot to say that the laptop is Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook C1410.

But I don't quite follow you when you say "you need specific SATA drivers for your system".
You mean specific drivers for the HD or for the OS?

Thanks in advance for your feedback

The SATA drivers are specific for the SATA controllers on the motherboard in the laptop. I suggest you use nLite to Slipstream the drivers into the original files on your WinXP CD. nLite is easier to use than some other methods. You can also Slipstream service packs at the same time.

Below are two links. The first is for ALL the drivers for that laptop.

The second is for nLite.
