is there any way to UNempty the recycle bin, if you accidentaly delete something you needed? some program? thank you.
Just when you see the light at the end of the tunnel, the roof caves in.

I've never done it since it's disabled, but do a system restore? Before you try this, wait for someone to comment about this. Is it a big file or one little thing?
Abit AN8 Socket 939
AMD64 3000+ -1.8Ghz
Corsair 1Gig 2x512
Seagate 160Gig SATA
MSI Radeon x800 PCI-E
Antec TrueControle 2.0 550 Watts

The file is still on the drive. XP does not erase the file... it simply deletes all references to it and marks that space on the drive as clear for writing.
There are lots of "unerase" programs out there (google for it), and getting a file back is easy with one of these programs as long as you don't use the computer a lot after your mistake. The more you use the machine, the more the chances are that the file gets written over.

i have system restore disabled too, it just takes up too much space and time.

You could have used this-
Description of the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows XP
to remove all System Restore points, except the latest.

it is not still in the recycle bin

Then you want to search the internet on how to "undelete" files in Windows. Good Luck. :-)

Files deleted when the Recycle Bin is emptied can be restored using Restoration from Snapfiles.com but read the article below (url) to understand how the Recycle Bin handles filenames. Your original file will not have the same name it was deleted under..... You have some work to do to identify the file(s) you want to recover.

I have recovered files more than two years after deletion (just for the experience) 'cos I have a hdd much much too big for my needs, hope you are successful...
Good luck

Hmmmm... how much time have you wasted trying to retreive your file? Restore is the most valuable tool on your PC it is foolish to disable it.
Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!
