I have 98 and xp installed. When I run 98, all the keys on keyboard run properly, but on xp '@' key changes to '"' key and vice versa. Like if I want to type an email address on xp (abc@abc.com), then xp types abc"abc.com. Hope you are getting my point. So, how do I change it to the correct input and output of keys. This is happening since I installed xp. Not on 98, though.

I had that happen to me before. Do a System Restore prior to when it started. That's what worked for me.

Hi, When you are in XP, check your regional and language settings are for your country.

To elaborate on bobhome's response since the setting could be buried:
Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Langauge > Details
Make sure to set United States English instead of United Kingdom.

Hi CyberSlug According to his email address he is from New Zealand, that is why I said set it to your own country. which would be "English New Zealand" also you say use US instead of UK,that would make no diferrence, as that @ key is the same as US. I Use UK or US, being in in England myself they are both the same, except for money and the date settings.

Hi Bobhome,
- I didn't think to check the email address. Good catch, thanks! (I spend most of my time on other forums which have many Eurpoean members. When I read the post with rather-colloquial English, I [incorrectly] assumend the poster was in the U.S.--like I am.)
- I was going by the pictures here about keyboard layout and didn't actually test :( Does your keyboard look like one pictured?
