how to stop Skype from opening itself up

Specs: Windows XP
Just lately, Skype keeps opening itself up without being asked to. I'm not talking about run
at start-up-that's fine-but once it's loaded it just opens itself up especially after a restart.

I think msinfo32 can deselect it on boot.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

I would personally recommend remove it from starting with windows (msconfig start tab, uncheck, OK and restart machine) and launch it only when you want it then close it when you are done. Windows will perform better with less running in the background.
Every programmer thinks we absolutely need their program prelaunched so that it can start nearly instantly but when so many do this then windows starts slow and performance in general begins to slow down. The best thing to do is to minimize what programs do this (the ones WE feel we need, if any) and just launch the programs we want when we are ready. My opinion of course.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Glee - download (for free) Easycleaner.

This has many very useful facilities.

One of which is shows which programs are loading on start-up, and the option to select and remove those not required from the start-up procedure.

Have found this has to be done every so often, as some programs continue to 'reinstall' themselves in start-up.

Fingers - your statement 'Every programmer thinks etc.' is so true!

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
