Comment:

Go to services...
Either thru control panel or type services.msc in the run command.
Now find the dreaded rpc (remote procedure call)
Right click it and go to properties.
In properties go to recovery
In recover you should see it saying after failure rstart computer and underneath it all it says restart computer after 1 minute!
Change all fialures to take no action!
From here use ur regular methods of getting rid of worm and download patch from ms.

After this you will be able to surf online so dl fixblast.exe from symantec. Use it and destroy the worm. Then dl the patch and fix the problem for good.

Ok, this message applies to a bug found in MS XP itself, first:

1. CTRL + ALT + DEL and end the "process" MSBLAST.exe

2. Goto the folder C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ and delete MSBLAST.exe

3. Then goto the folder C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\ and delete MSBLAST.EXE-09FF84F2.pf

4. Then load up RegEdit. (WINDOWS Folder) and remove (delete) My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\windows auto update

If you cannot find it, goto find and type in windows auto update.

5.Restart machine.

Then go Here(http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2354406C-C5B6-44AC-9532-3DE40F69C074&displaylang=en) and download the MS patch fix.

Install the patch and re-start you computer, this should fix your problem. All info provided here by Gavin Bright.

Adding to my last Post, on step 5, DO NOT restart the PC until the patch is downloaded. To temporally stop the message from popping up while attempting to download the patch, go to start, control panel, adminstrative tools, computer management, services and applications, services, and find Remote Procedure Call (RPC). Right click and select properties. Click recovery and change all 3 boxes to "Take no action". Wait till' the patch is downloaded, then Restart the computer and install the patch.
