At the RUN command line type in SERVICES.MSC and scroll down to find MESSENGER. Click the STOP button and this will elliminate any popups from occuring on your computer. Email me if you have any questions.

It will stop pop-ups originating from Windows Messanger. Better still set the service to disabled, otherwise it will start up again next time you re-boot. It wont stop all pop-ups. You need a pop-stopper for that. They come in to many varieties
There's more to life than Windows Messanger.

The new Google toolbar, downloadable from Google, and free, has a built-in pop-up stopper. Seems to work well. There are also a variety of free stoppers like POW from analogx.com.
