hey guys,
Is it possible to share connection using switch when i'm using road runner(using only one ip and not having to purchase the nic card). I plugged the cable modem into switch and connected these two computers into switch but only one of them is getting connection and i can't see the other computer in the network neighbor. any help guys?
thanks

Sorry, a switch does not provide multiple IPs for the computers on your network. The only thing the switch will do is maintain the maximum amount of bandwidth for each computer (a hub partitions the bandwidth among the multiple computers), but each needs its own IP address from Road Runner. What you are looking for is a cable/dsl router, which you can find at any tech store for around $80-100. This serves as a gateway to your single IP address assigned from Road Runner and gives each computer fake IPs (generally 192.xxx...) behind this gateway. I run the same type of network in my house, and the best part is that the router provides its own firewall. Good luck!
