Comment:
on win98 one could select a folder and search it for a file. but on winxp one can search only the whole partition. how can I e.g. search only in e:\winxp\system32? I switched to the programme LookDisc for now, but maybe it would also work somehow with the native search function of windows xp?

Hi I can't check this in win xp as I am having problems installing it at the mo - see my post if you can help (cheeky plug there)
But in win2000 if you click on the little menu arrow for the 'look in' box where you choose which drive to search. Then right at the bottom there is an item that says 'browse' click this and you can define exactly where to search - i hope xp is the same.

Hi You are so newb. Open the folder you want to search in and press on search button which is located in the taskbar. If you can't see it press with the right button of your mouse somewhrere on your taskbar and go to customize. Add Search.
Or press start and go to search and specify the directory. type it manualy.
