Problem is that it may be a malware message or a real message.

I'd start by going to help and support pages. Then see how to run a restore point back to a time when it worked.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

So, do you get to the internet after that message?

What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

How do you expect anyone to tell you how to perform a factory restore without the brand and model of computer?

Besides listing nothing about your system, you posted the error message incorrectly. More than likely, this it what it is:

A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider.

There are two types of restores possible. The one you refer to is a Windows System Restore and uses previously made restore points.

The second type is a full restore, which can be done using a previously made image, or can also be accomplished by using disks or a hidden partition on the hard drive made from or supplied by the manufacturer.

I think yvonni was requesting the latter. IMO that is not necessary. The issue being experienced is a minor one that can be repaired.
