Hi,

I have a wallpaper, unfortunately the icon background is blue color, which is making it ugly.

My Q: How to reset all the desktop setting to default just like seeing desktop for the first time after a clean window install?

*WinXP wouldn't let me reinstall XP because of SP2.

Thanks, appreciate your input.

I've already tried:

Right click My Computer, select Properties, click Advanced, click Performance Settings, make sure there is a check next to "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop".

But it didn't work.

Bgor, Did you uncheck 'Lock web items on desktop' if it has a little tick next to it? It's possible that Active Desktop is enabled. To Disable Active Desktop. Open the Control Panel.
Open Display Properties.
Click the Desktop tab.
Click the Customize Desktop button.
Click the Web tab in the Desktop Items window.
Make sure all checkboxes in this window are un-checked including My Current Homepage.
Restart your computer.

Bgor, Glad to help. Was it the uncheck 'Lock web items on desktop' or was your Active Desktop the problem?

It's the unchecking lock web items on desktop part.
