Hello, I have a computer with XP Pro on it and there's a repair partition on the hard drive and I'm not sure how to get to it or how to use it since XP has no MS-DOS.
Can anyone help?
I probably haven't given enough info so just ask if you need more details... it's midnight here (in NZ) and I'm too tired to think straight...
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards

Hi Tryan, hello everyone,
Is the partition you are talking about a diagnostic partition that was installed by the manufacture?
If so, you don't need DOS to access it. It is a comination of keys during the boot process that will access the diagnostics partition. This will vary depending on the manufacture and model of the computer.
The key combination should be in the manual for the computer. If it's not, or you don't have the manual, post back with the manufacture and model of the computer.
Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi Tracey,
As far as I know there's no 'standard' for these repair partitions.
Youll probably need to ask the shop that set it up.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

My daughters' Compaq has a repair partition. It includes files to reinstall the computer to exactly the state in which it was delivered, or just to repair XP.
Upon boot there is a logo screen with instructions how to reach it. In this case F10.
