how to remove v0000001.avi from my documents

February 7, 2012 at 12:43:14
Specs: Windows XP
I have a file in My Documents described as a video clip, 0KB. Name is v0000001.avi .Every time I click it an error message appears and the computer threatens to close down.
Can find no way of removing it.(I'm not hugely computer literate!!) File appeared when I was messing about with Wisdom-Soft screen capture which I have since deleted from my computer.

Have you tried to right click and from the drop down menu choose delete?

What happens when you try to delete the file?

If the properties are read only then you can't delete it. Right click on the file and choose properties. Un-tick read only if it is checked.

As soon as I right click file a warning comes up "Windows has encountered a problem.......etc and will have to shut down". But this time it didn't, so I clicked on Properties - the file was not ticked Read Only. However I clicked on Advanced and un-checked "File ready for archiving" and hey presto I was able to delete it.
Thanks for steering me in the right direction.
