I am having a hard time removing spysweeper from my pc. Is there any program that will remove this stubborn pest off my pc. I tried advanced uninstall pro, but the spysweeper is not showing up there or in add remove programs or any uninstall program I am using. I did a pc search and I found the files; thought I delected them from right clicking on the file and deleting, but not so. What shall I do? Thanks in Advance for your support.

Try installing it again. Next disable the program so that it is not running after reboot (I'm assuming there is a "facility" to do this, otherwise you have to use your imagination). Then try uninstall again - it might appear in Add/Remove this time.

A few months ago, I "upgraded" my Spysweeper to (what was then) the latest version. Immediately, I had issues with the pervasiveness of the program. My machine had become almost unusable. In order to reinstall my previous version (4.5.9), I had to remove Spysweeper entirely.

Like you, I found that this was not an easy task. I found it necessary to stop the service associated with the Spysweeper engine. However, it wouldn't allow me to simply stop the service, I had to disable it from starting up, then reboot Windows. I was then able to remove this abomination from my machine.

To stop the service, Start > Run, type "Services.msc" Look through the list of services for any associated with Webroot Spysweeper and disable them. Reboot, then remove all traces of Spysweeper, including registry entries.

Backup your registry before deleting any keys, in case things go wrong. I searched the registry for all keys pertaining to "webroot" and "spysweeper", deleting all of them. Use caution and common sense, and you should be fine.

I'm still running V4.5.9 without any issues. I keep the spyware definitions updated, and am fully protected, without losing any functionality (unlike the later version that I tried).

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
