Anyone know how to remove an XP dual boot. I have win98se on C: and XP on H:. I want to reformat my C: which will obviously delete win98se but it will also remove XPs boot files. Can I just copy these boot files back onto C: after reformating it and have XP boot properly? Which files are the ones to copy besides "boot.ini"?
Thanks, Tony

Hi Tyee,
NO it wont. XP is more intelligent OS than the previous ones. Go to XP, Change the WIN folder of the WIN98 into tempwin or what ever and yes you can do it. RE boot (NOT WIN 98 LOL) XP and see what happens if XP runs ok then erase the tempwin folder and do the same with program files change the name and re-boot and see what happens if all ok then erase it. Then you can format the drive. I personally would hang on to the old OS as some hardwares are not compatable with XP. I am not as rich as some guys around here! I only have 8GB but I still have my good old-old OS in a different logical drive. Promise it will come handy one of these days. Good Luck and drop a line and enrich us as how it went. Thanks Dave

Hi,
If your WinXP CD is rebootable, you can safely reformat your C drive abd then boot up with your Win XP CD. After which, you can clear your H drive up.
