If I understand you tried to format from a working operating system. You have to go to Dos and Fdisk and then format to fat32. There is no way to convert to fat32 from NTFS

Here's some text from a PowerQuest Partition Magic white paper:

"This white paper details the benefits of hard drive partitioning and the strengths of
PartitionMagic Pro 7.0 for your hard drive partitioning needs. PartitionMagic 1.0,
introduced in March 1995, revolutionized the partitioning process by using a patented
process to “dynamically” modify hard drive partitions without destroying data.

PartitionMagic Pro 7.0 is an easy-to-use, flexible tool from PowerQuest® Corporation that resizes, moves, copies, creates, deletes, merges, undeletes and splits partitions. PartitionMagic Pro can also convert partitions from FAT to FAT32 or NTFS, or back from FAT32 to FAT, or NTFS to FAT or FAT32 and provides the ability to split FAT and FAT32 partitions below the root level. PartitionMagic Pro 7.0 can also convert primary to logical and logical to primary partitions on the fly and redistribute free space."

Don't make life complicated people. Boot to your XP CD-ROM, start the install as normal, when you get to the point where it ask what you want to do with the exsisting partitions, do your dirty work their. You will have the ability to FDISK then. Partiton Magic is a good program but it is not the cure all.

Later,

Hey Keven,
Fdisk (a DOS command, obviously) cannot "see" the non-DOS, NTFS partition.
Where did you learn THAT proceedure!!!
