Hello Everyone,

I would really appreciate any help on how to recover my deleted HDD partition.

Yesterday i was installing Windows XP on a new Hard Drive(Desktop). My computer was connected to 2 external Hard Drives and during the installation process it prompted me to enter the drive for installation. Without realizing i accidentally deleted the external Hard Drive's partition.

Now when i connect my External HDD to my Laptop, it just shows the drive and when i click on it, it asks me to format and i cancel it.

Is there any way i can restore my data and the partition of my External Hard Drives.

Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Thanks,

kklaksh

TestDisk may be able to help. Download the correct version from here http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Test... After downloading, unzip it, double-click testdisk_win.exe to run it and follow the prompts to repair the disk.

Before running it, make sure you read the guides here http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Test...

Thanks BurrWalnut for the information.

I forgot to mention that i had data in those External HDD. So if i use the application you mentioned, can i retrieve all my data as well as the partition.

I do not want to lose the data in the HDD stored from past 3-4 years. So i do not mind paying small amount in buying a application to recover the partition and the data as well. Do you know any reliable/effective paid application.

I'm going to try the tool you mentioned first before buying. In case if it doesn't work i'm thinking of buying a tool.

Thanks for your help.

The demo is limited
It will only recover 'up to' four folders per run
But you can make multiple runs

Excellent, but not free.

I hope you were finally able to recover the EUHD partition.

As you have learned the hard way, we always recommend to users to physically disconnect all peripheral hardware when performing OS installation. After installing and updating the OS, you may then reconnect it
