Sir,
I have downloaded the Virtual PC software...... and i want to operate it... e.g. i want to operate Windows 98 in XP environment. But i did not find a way to operate it.....it indicates different OS listed in its options during its configuration.
And i select the 'others' in dropdown option menu, because i have two OS in my system 'XP' and 'XP server 03'. So, plz give the guideline where i am wrong?? in its configuration or anywhere else...
Thanks alot!!
Take Care!Syed Fahad Hussain

What you are talking about is the configuration of the *guest* operating system, i.e. the OS designated to run *inside* the virtual machine.
Virtual PC is designed to run under Windows XP/2000 (or Vista since 2007 edition) and does not require to be made aware of the host operating environment.
During the installation of VirtualPC you are prompted to select the guest environment to set up the first virtual machine with proper devices (hard disk size as image file, memory amount and so on).
You can delay these steps to a later time and barely install the VirtualPC Console. I suggest you just follow this procedure, open the VirtualPC Console and read accurately the Help guide (? in menu bar) to get confident with the application.
Any way be aware you need a legal copy of Windows 98 (or any OS you want to run inside VPC) as, after configured the virtual machine, you have to install the selected OS using your CD or diskettes.
