how to open *.txt in command prompt

It used to be like "edit C:\1.txt" in win95 and 98 then you will enter the blue-screen i think is MS-dos edit and u can see the file txts.
what is the correct command to open *.txt files in command prompt
thks

use the "type" command

it works I just tried it.
