i have a wireless network at home ,, and when my daughter is acting up I want to be able to kill her network connection without switching off the router. She uses the machine for her homework , so i dont want to switch her machine off, just stop her network access. i am in a separate computer room in the house and want to be able to kill her wireless connection from here. I have a wired connection to the router and am using xp pro, she has a wireless connection using xp home. so how do i stop her connection accessing the router (ie no internet access) any help would be appreciated

What kind of router do you have? I could cut off connection to any PC from the router configuration menu.
This issue is always sensitive where family member is involved. If your daughter is adolescent she can rebel knowing that you have cut off her internet privileges. If I were you I would have a frank talk with her to let her know what I would do if she doesn't follow the rules you set in the house. Think about it first.

if your machine is connected to the router via hardwire, access your router html interface (enter router ip into your browser's addressbar) and turn off wireless ...
Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

another option:
assign fixed ip addresses in you local area network ... and when the time comes, exclude your daughter's pc from accessing the router.
now, this is the technical part, other than that, i can only suggest to go with response #1 :-)
