how to keep / check a log on visite

Hello everyone
I am wandering if I can keep a log of websites that are visited from my computer. I have free AVG antivirus and free ZoneAlarm firewall.
I know we can check the history in IE, but what if these have been deleted. Any other way to keep track of which websites they been access. If I need special software do have any suggestion to which and how I can get it, please.
