I use Pro and not home, but it should be the same in that you Right-Click on "My Computer" either on the desktop or in the Start Menu... choose PROPERTIES and then select the Tab for "Computer Name". There you should have the option to join to your domain.

Home version was designed for home use. Microsoft figured that nobody has a domain in there home. So Home Edition DOES NOT allow you to join a domain.

Home cannot Join Domain.

Sorry.

You need Pro.
(There is no way around this limitation.)

There is a registry hack to allow Home to join a Domain. I have co-workers that have done it. Use Google and see if you can find what needs to be changed in the registry.

If you don't want to do some leg work, go out and purchase XP Pro. I'm not gonna search for the hack for.

Yeah I am not sure in what sense you mean by joining a "domain" but you *CAN* get a home edition to work in conjunction with the domain by changning the "workgroup" to the name of the domain...

Maybe the computer won't be recognized as a domain computer. and the user as a domain user, but it should have access to all the same domain files/shares as long as the User/Pass is correct.

Again... I don't use HOME right now and am a little fuzzy on the exact process, but in the past I have set up a few XP Home's to behave well with a domain and I am sure that I did it without the use of a registry hack.

The registry hack gives you the option to Join A Domain just as you would with XP Pro. I've never run it because I don't use XP Home at home. I run 2K Server, XP Pro and 2K on my 3 boxes. Anywho....Go here

Right click on My Computer/Properties/Computer name/Modify/enter computer name and domain name in workgroup.
