What kind of mouse is it? PS/2, USB or wireless. Normaly Windows recongnises the presence of a mouse and install drivers automatically. A mouse is that simple.

If it is not showing up in device manager or there is no items with a yellow question matke next to it it is probably a faulty mouse. Have you tried a different one?
