Specs: Windows XP
I am trying to install windows xp and it gets all the way to where it is going to actually begin installing with 39 minutes left and then it says fatal error i386 asms file is needed. Apparently this is common as I see this question asked often. Is there an easy or quik fix? this is not a burned cd ... nor is it corrupt so what to do? is there somewhere I can just download the stupid file?

ASMS is not a file, it's a folder on the XP disc which contains "51 Files, 59 Folders". Assuming your optical drive is "D", the folder is D:\I386\ASMS. The problem is either with your optical drive or the disc itself. And if you're installing to a SATA HDD, the SATA/RAID drivers MUST be installed at the very beginning of the installation by pressing F6, then loading the drivers from a floppy disk.
