Why would you want to increase CPU usage?

Buy faster software for rendering.

If you are thinking that would speed up the rendering process you are most likely wrong. If more processing power were required then it would be used. There are some settings in Windows that prioritize tasks. I assume when you are performing rendering you are not attempting to perform other CPU demanding tasks.

Your graphics card may have more to do with rendering than the CPU. Depends on the program.

What program are you running that performs the rendering?

I am using software 3dsmax design 2011
My system is......

No program other than the 3dsmax is running.
At first instance when I have done the rendering of a particular scene I got the timing 5.45 minutes. Then I have reduce the RAM to 4GB and I got timing of 16 minutes. Finally when the extra 4GB was added to the system again I am not getting the original time of 5.45 minutes and instead getting 14 minutes.

What are you using for graphics? On board or add in?

If the software is not seeing the RAM try performing a repair installation of the program.

The program doesn't seem to be SMP. What does taskman show for processors? Are they even? It could be that the program is actually fully smp and is really using the gpu to process. In that case the cpu us rather useless.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
