OS: XP pro
CPU/Ram: AMD 2600 , 1g RAM

ok for ex: this link http://media.ebaumsworld.com/index.php?e=nationalanthem.wmv

some people just click it and it automatically plays it in their player, but for me any link with avi or wmv I have to download then open to watch it, I know there has to be a way because It worked for me before until i dl'd the winamp

Have you checked this:

ControlPanel>Internet Options>Advanced page:
"Play videos in webpages" <YES

yes its enabled there, maybe something changed when I downloaded winamp?

In WinAmp:
Press CTRL+P for preferences. Then select "File Types" on the left.
"Enable WinAmp Agent"<NO
Apply changes, and then look in TaskManager's list of processes. End the WinAmp Agent process.

After that, in WMP>Tools Menu>Options:
On the "Network" page, checkmark all streaming protocols. Don't checkmark the "use ports" box.
On the FileTypes page, checkmark the video FileTypes. Apply changes.

You may have to restart the computer first.

Some streaming videos take a bit of time before they first have to connect, and then load up the buffer before video starts.
