I have just installed win XP Pro over win 98 Firstly I have a problem with pctel hsp modem (crap. That soe not dial at all even though xp installs the drivers. I understand that this modem will not work....is that right. Secondly I wish to format the hard drive to put evrything back on with win 98 first and then use partition magic 7 to put win xp on. Does anyone know how to format a HDD in win xp. I have tried format C: /q but that give an error saying you cannot delete the partition. How the hell do I get around this. I have tried fdisk in dos with an error message comming up. I think he files on the hdd are still in fat32 format!! Please help!

Your computer will restart automatically. Be sure that any floppy disks are removed before you click Yes. Important You can not uninstall Windows XP Professional if you: Changed your hard disk configuration; for example, if you have converted from FAT to NTFS or have created new partitions. Upgraded from Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 Professional. Programs that have been modified since the upgrade to Windows XP will not be consistent after the uninstallation.
