CPU/Ram: xp 1700+ 768mb DDR

How to format my harddrive that has winxp installed in ? If i try to use recovery console and format i get a blue screen and dunno why...Says i should turn off some bios cache memory setup but i can't find it in Asus Bios =(

boot with the xp disk, and after some setup files load, an option page to format and load windows appears.
