how to fix dhcp client windows xp

Specs: Windows xp
I am having a issue with windows XP.. Last night closed out of the web, today the pc. Today when going to sign on, it keeps telling me it can not find server. So I check all wires, connections. All is good. Next I did a system restore, nothing.. Ran the tools to identify the problem, everything checked out good, but it says something about the DHCP not being valid-there. I am guessing this has to be the problem, as all else seems to be fine.. Please be clear if you answer, as i am not a PC whiz.. Thanks

Two places usually offer dhcp. One is your local modem/router and other times it is from your ISP.

You need to find out what did offer it. Then look at that.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
