how to find someone elses IP

Where can I find a program to find someones IP, then trace it to a location? Ive heard people saying it can be done, but I dont know how. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Goto www.samspade.org and see what you can find there. You can also search for "IP Tracer" and similar with search engines or in www.cnet.com There are many different programs on the market to trace IP addresses.

There are many programs that have trace route options.These are a few of the free ones:3D Traceroute,Sam Spade,Virtual Zone(made to work with zone alarm basic firewall)and Sygate personal firewall 5.o has it also.You're pay versions of firewalls have it usually.

When you get to know the IP (from the firewall), go to www.ripe.net and use their "whois" database. There youŽll find info of the ip-owner, name/company, address, phone...

That dam samspade is the one that keeps trying to hit me with a trojan. Everytime I get hit I trace it and 8 out of 10 times it is samspade I thouhgt they were some kind of spam crap. Do yourself a favor and buy a good firewall it will give you the ip of any attacks or go to GRC.com and get ID serve it will give you the IP AND THE SERVER TYPE OF ANY WEB SITE NOT HIDING BEHIND A FIREWALL

Ron-- Sam Spade is used by a LOT of people to find out who is knocking on their firewall door. Do you run any kind of port scanner? Havent heard of anyone having a trojan or virus use Sam Spade to spam.
