how to enable registry editing

In xp's administrator account when i run "regedit", it says something similar to " registry editing is disabled by your administrator". I cannot remember if I diabled registry editing or not .
Could anyone tell me how to enable registry editing.

I tried as it say in response number 2. but it doesnt make any change for windows xp. i still get the same message. I tried this in a windows 2000 machines it worked.
any idea?

kpsu, Are you sure that you clicked on "Enable Registry Editing Tools" and NOT Disable then downloaded that reg file. It should work for Windows XP.

I followed instructions as follows

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Using the Group Policy Editor - For Windows XP Professional

DisableRegistryTools value corresponds to the Disable registry editing tools Group Policy

User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ System

Click Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC to launch the Group Policy Editor, and set the policy to Not Configured
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
There is no "DisableRegistryTools" in
User Configuration\administrative templates\system
