How to enable DMA in XP?

I know in windows ME you could enable DMA for harddrives or CD-ROM drives from the device manager, but in XP it doesn't seem to be there anymore. I know DMA is not on now, because when I run premiere or my ATI capture utility it tells me to enable DMA. How do I do this in Win XP?
How makes your motherboard? Have you downloaded the lastest drivers? I have a VIA chipset on my board and with the lastest drivers it allows me to enable DMA via a program they provided. It's pretty cool to be honest. SO some more info would help.

This tip is needed on PCs that contain hard disks or cdroms that support Ultra DMA 66.
you just have to edit the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000 key and add a new DWORD value called EnableUDMA66 with a value of 1, then restart your computer
