It's not possible to edit that data. It's obtained from the header of the email.

What makes you think someone "forged" an email with your IP? Did someone send you something that indicates this? A little more detail would be helpful.

OK Jennifer

I wish to know if it is possible, and if yes how, to alter the IP data AFTER the email is downloaded to the Outlook Express INBOX.

I already answered your question. The header information is not editable.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news Jennifer...but it can be edited. [actually I like being the bearer of bad news].

G'day Kuka, have you tried dragging the email out on to your desktop, changing the extension to .txt and simply 'do the thing' and then change it back to .eml.

All that properties data shows up in text file format and can be edited.

I have done this long ago to correct the dates and spelling mistakes [stupid keebored] before printing.

Nothing is impossable !!

I'm still wondering about the "A guy forged an email with my IP and I am trying to figure out how did he do this" part. :)

OK Jennifer!

I explain:

A trouble-maker guy got an offensive email, and edited it's properties inserting my IP in it in order to blame me. I am not sure whether the entire email was forged by him or not but now he is treating me with a suit.

For this reason I am collecting technical arguments, just in case he is stupid enough to do that.

Any help on this matter will be very welcome.

kuka
