Hi, I'm using IE6 and would like to know how to save a file into my hard drive without it being played in a browser window.
For example, I have the url address to a sound file, but when I enter it on my browser it streams automatically from the site, so I can't download it.

Is there a quick way to Save the file?

use a download manager (FDM is a nice freeware solution), create new download, enter your URL and have the file downloaded to your computer.

i have used HiDownload in the past. you could also try the right click save as method. or...if it is a media player file you should be able to right click and go to properties. there you will see the actual file address (sometimes different). if you try pasting that into your browser it might have the save dialogue box pop up. that's what i do for the break.com videos.

also, if you use firefox you might wanna check out Video Downloader 2.0 from videodownloader.net the free plugin supports many popular websites.

The reason why I can't right-click > Save Target As is because It's just an url address I have, no link.

Actually, the best solution I've found is to open the url in FireFox, then File > Save Site As
Unlike IE, firefox will save the file easily enough :)
