I have a Dell XPS400. I put in a new SATA hard drive and now I don't know the next steps? I have the CD's for Win XP and Drivers/Utilities Discs. I had found a link somewhere that had step by step instructions on how to do this but can't find the link anymore.
I've googled all over and I'm not sure how to even boot it up or what to do first. From a newbie...Thanks!
Was the original disk SATA and are the install and driver disks that you have original DELL for that system? If the answer to both is yes then insert the install disk and boot up. You may need to go into BIOS first and alter the boot order to CD first.
There is a tutorial on installing XP in the How-tos section of the forum.Goin' Fishin' (Some day)
