don't like the details view. want symbols instead. but I found the solution: seems as if there is a conflict between the winzip app and winxp native zip decompression dll, unless you deregister the dll:

Select Run from the Start menu -> Enter
regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll Click OK
Restart the computer.

To enable the file size display of zip files in Windows Explorer, follow the steps above, and then IMMEDIATELY afterwards start winzip.exe, it will ask you whether you want to re-associate files, say yes.

Don't click on any zip archives after the de-registration of the Windows native zip decompression and prior to opening winzip.exe, otherwise the dll will be re-registered!

After re-associating the types with winzip, start Winrar and especially Winace, and reassociate their archives with the appropriate programmes, because Winzip steals associations, such as *.arj, *.ace etc.!

To enable XP's zip support, perform the following steps:

Select Run from the Start menu -> Enter
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll Click OK
Restart the computer.
