Run "Services" from Admin tools. There you can find and STOP the "Protected Storage" then you can delete most files. If windows asks for your CD don't give it, but select you want to keep the files like you just made them.

nah, not really. i tried that. i don't know about your experiences, but i tell you mine. i want to delete tour.exe file from /help/mmTour/ dir. of course wfp prevents this, apparently this damn flash anim is essential for windows to run. if i stop "protected storage" (which description is far from what i'd expect it to be if it's about WFP) - nothing really happens. tour.exe still demonically appears again. are we talking the same thing ?

Ahh, I see. Well here's what I did to that one... Just go into teh Tour folder and delete all the files, it's just the fodler itself that cant be removed. At least on my system, I now only have an empty Tour folder which is not too bothersome :-)

temporary solution: boot in safe mode and delete files. doesn't work on dirs though. xp will resurrect them later.
