i would like to know how to disable your firewall. this would include all connection types, such as dial-up, broadband, dsl, etc. thank you.

Network Connection
Right click your connection
Properties
Advanced
Uncheck the Box "Protect my computer.....

Are you using any firewall software ? There is usually a option in the firewall to disable it. If you are not using any extra firewall software, Windows XP has an option to turn off the "Windows XP" firewall you can do this by :
START >> Connect To >> Show All Connections ( now select and RIGHT Click the connection you wish to disable the firewall on and select PROPERTIES, if you have more than one connection you will have to follow these steps for each connection >> Now select the "Advanced Tab" and UNSELECT the "Internet connection firewall" option right at the top.
I hope this is of somehelp.

Try reading your help file. Took me 2 seconds to find this:
To enable or disable Internet Connection Firewall
Open Network Connections
Click the Dial-up, LAN or High-Speed Internet connection that you want to protect, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.
On the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection Firewall, select one of the following:
To enable Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), select the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.
To disable Internet Connection Firewall, clear the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.
